This smoothie contains lucuma powder. If you don’t know what this is then, in short, it originates from Peru and is made from a subtropical fruit. It has been used in Peru for centuaries as an anti inflammatory agent and to promote wound healing. Studies are inconclusive about these health benefits, however it is known to be a rich source of antioxidants and minerals such as iron, calcium and phosphorus.

I added some turmeric, firstly because I love the taste, but also because of its scientifically proven health benefits. It’s most prominent benefits are relating to your digestive tract. It has been seen to support a reduction of inflammation in inflammatory bowl disease and studies have also linked Curcumin (a phytonutrient which gives turmeric its yellow colour) to a a reduced level/reoccurance/spread of cancer in the bowel and breast.

This smoothie paacks a really warming punch of health. Bursting with antioxidants, good fats and fibre, it will keep you feeling full all morning.
