This recipe was one of the first that I tried when I began developing recipes. It isn’t my own recipe, however due to my surprise in how well it worked it motivated me to get a bit more experimental with my own cooking!!
I have made this dairy-free chocolate moose countless times now and it never fails me. The creamy avocado gives the texture, plus the added bonus of its monounsaturated fat profile to support a healthy heart. This isn’t a low calorie dessert though! The fats in an avocado contain the same calories per gram as any other fat (9 Kcal/g), so if you are trying to lose a few kilos, this would be ideal as an occasional treat (once/week for example). Calories aside this is a rich, nutritious, super healthy dessert option and would surprise anyone when you tell them what’s in it!
- 1/2 avocado
- 2tbsp chilled (thick) coconut milk
- 2 heaped tsp cacao
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- Blended all of the ingredients together until smooth & chill in glasses for 2-3hours until it sets.
- Serve straight from the fridge.
- I served with frozen grapes on top (in case you were wondering what they are in the photo!)
