A lovely dairy-free smoothie option for my lactose intollerant friends! I discovered this trick after I bought a huge bag of blood oranges that needed eating ASAP. By using oranges in a smoothie you get to keep the lovely juices as well as the additional fibre. Adding one large or 2 small oranges to your smothie blend instead of milk works so well and boosts your daily fruit intake too.
Plus, did you know that blood oranges can thank their gorgeous dark pigmentation to high levels of anthocyanins, a flavonoid (antioxidant) also found in blueberries. It has also been seen in lab tests that blood oranges can have slightly higher vitamin c content than regular naval oranges.
- 1 blood orange
- 5cm cucumber
- 1g parsley
- ½ handful blueberries
- 2 large strawberries
- Wash all ingredients then blend to a smooth drink consistency. Enjoy!
